CMHA SASAKTOON LAUNCHES EXPANDED SERVICES DURING PANDEMIC
The Canadian Mental Health Association Saskatoon Branch moved quickly to respond to the COVID 19 pandemic, addressing the growing need for mental health services for Saskatoon residents.
Today we are launching our dedicated WELLNESS SUPPORT LINE – 306-270-3648.
“When physical distancing and other measures were put into place, we immediately shifted to online and telephone support, counselling, referrals and information. We knew the pandemic would have an immediate impact on our clients.” says Faith Bodnar, CMHA Saskatoon Executive Director.
Working with CMHA Saskatchewan and local branches across the province, CMHA Saskatoon adds one more way for people to access support, information and referrals. The Wellness Support Line is for anyone who needs to talk about how they are doing during the pandemic.
“We want to provide as many safe ways as we can for people to connect with us during this difficult time. It’s essential that everyone has access to information, counselling and someone to listen to their concerns and worries. And our services continue to be free for anyone needing them.” adds Bodnar. “We know that the impacts of the pandemic will increase with time and will last long after the virus has run its course.”
Referred to as the Echo Pandemic, the mental health issues will increase and touch everyone, mirroring the curve of the virus but lasting much longer. It’s also expected that once restrictions are lifted, mental health issues will continue for some time.
In addition to the Wellness Response Line, CMHA Saskatoon also has several other ways anyone can connect including:
